Selling used perfume in the UAE
Every collection has bottles that no longer get worn. Listing one is easy. Selling it well takes an honest description, good photos and a realistic price.
Here is how buyers decide, and how to make your listing one they trust.
1. What you can sell
- Full, partly used, boxed or unboxed bottles, as well as samples and decants.
- Testers: say clearly in the listing that the bottle is a tester. Buyers expect a plain box and sometimes no cap.
- Only offer what you lawfully own and may sell, and never anything you suspect could be counterfeit.
- If you sell perfume as part of a business, say so.
In PERFUMI's Souk, "inspired by" perfumes, clones and dupes are not allowed. The Souk is for original perfumes and for samples and decants of originals.
2. Describe it honestly
Buyers can't smell or hold your bottle, so your description does that job. Include:
- The house, the perfume's name, its concentration (for example Eau de Parfum) and the bottle size.
- The fill level, as a percentage or in ml. Be precise: it is the detail buyers check first.
- Whether the box is included, and the batch code on the bottle and the box.
- How you stored it, and roughly when you bought it.
- Any flaws: a scratched cap, a worn label, a sprayer that sticks.
3. Photos buyers expect
- Front and back of the bottle, and the base with its batch code.
- The fill level, photographed against the light.
- The sprayer and the cap, and the box with its code if you have it.
- Any flaw you mention in the description.
Use daylight and no filters, and only photos of your own bottle. Our guide on telling original from fake shows what careful buyers look for.
4. Pricing a used bottle in AED
- Start from the current retail price for the same size and concentration.
- Look at similar listings: boxed bottles usually sell for more than unboxed ones, and full bottles for more than partly used ones.
- Discontinued or hard-to-find scents can be worth more. Common ones that are easy to buy new usually aren't.
- A realistic price sells faster than a high one that you lower later. Decide in advance whether you are open to offers.
5. Where to sell
Classified sites, collector groups and fragrance communities all work. Choose a place where buyers can see who you are and what others say about you. In PERFUMI's Souk you can offer bottles, samples and decants, answer requests or trade, and every listing shows a trust level.
6. Meeting, payment and delivery: staying safe
- Meet in a busy public place, and agree on payment before you hand over the bottle.
- Be wary of buyers who pay too much and ask for the difference back, who send payment "screenshots" instead of payment, or who push you to act fast.
- Share no more personal details than the deal needs. PERFUMI's in-app chat lets you agree on offers and handovers without sharing your phone number.
- Perfume contains alcohol, and couriers often treat it as a dangerous good. Check your courier's rules before you ship a bottle.
For ordinary listings in PERFUMI's Souk, buyer and seller agree on payment and delivery directly with each other.
7. Selling with Fake Check
For original bottles in the UAE you can choose Fake Check: you send the bottle to PERFUMI, our experts inspect it, and PERFUMI keeps it until it ships to the buyer. Bottles that pass carry the Fake Check seal and the highest trust level, and they are shown first in the Souk. Fake Check is optional.
8. How trust levels help buyers choose
Every listing in PERFUMI's Souk shows a trust level built from real evidence, from a confirmed phone number and buyer reviews up to a passed Fake Check. Your profile shows your level and your reviews, so honest listings and good trades build your reputation over time. Trust levels help buyers decide; they are not a guarantee.
